SLANT is proud to host the Coppell High School Spanish teachers and their students for a special display of student work during our final Artwalk event at Dallas Midtown.
Many people have asked how we settled on the name SLANT. As you might imagine, it was an easy task for a group of artists to brainstorm a plethora of names. In fact, we conjured up over 70 names. It was a more difficult chore weeding through the favorites, honing the list down.
Ultimately, SLANT rose to the top.
Even before we had a name, we knew we wanted to represent ourselves as a forward thinking collective. One that would allow a true art gallery experience for our co-op members, yet allow opportunities for others, too. We unanimously agreed that one of our objectives would be
to encourage art appreciation in our community.
The definition of SLANT describes taking a different, diagonal path, much as an airplane takes when it climbs upward. We have spent our time at Dallas Midtown sharing thought provoking exhibits with our community, and encouraging other artists towards their goals. We've hosted many at what would be their first exhibit opportunity, first art buying experience, first art selling experience, and very first visit to an art gallery. We are humbly grateful for each of these firsts, each pushing us a little further upward in our ambitions.
We hope you will join us in encouraging these students towards their creative side,
influencing them towards projects that exercise both the right, and left side of their brains.
We hope you will also shake the hands of these teachers, and thank them for coming up with educational projects that push their students to think outside of the box.
Join us on our path to keep the momentum moving forward, upward -
keeping the path for tomorrow's thinkers, tinkerers, dreamers, explorers,
movers and shakers, ever on an upward SLANT.
